Welcome to the Internet Catalog of Chris Ranes' artwork.

Chris was born in Paris in 1929 and died of kidney cancer on 1 October 2002 in her home in Palo Alto, California. She lived in Paris as a young girl and narrowly escaped death in Poland and Germany during World War II. After the war, she studied art, as well as textile design, in New York City with some of the most famous leaders in the modern art world. It is there where she met her husband, Herman, moved to Palm Springs, California, and later to Palo Alto, California. This is where she lived and worked for the majority of her career. more...

By no means is this a complete record of her work. However, it is a catalog of her complete personal collection (including her Earliest Works never before shown) as well as some of her most important works now owned by others. This catalog is intended as a record of Chris' work and not a replacement for it. There may be color or other distortions in the pieces.

Some of Chris' most original designs from her years in New York City as a textile designer can be found on Melinamadefabrics.com.

Works from Chris' personal collection are available for purchase as well as her two series of lithographs from 1988.
